NSW Volunteer Timebanking

The NSW Government Volunteering Strategy, launched in May 2012, included two trials of Timebanking, one in Newcastle and one on the Central Coast. The Office of Communities now calls for expressions of interest from organisations to operate these trials.

Timebanking allows people to earn time credit by providing a volunteer service to
another timebank member - like babysitting, driving or computer lessons - which they
can then redeem on a service they need from another volunteer. Timebanking promotes
active participation in community life and helps address the social isolation that some people experience.

A tender briefing session will be held in Newcastle on 2 July. Please contact Simon Watts, Senior Manager, Volunteering, Office of Communities on 9995 0523 to register for this event and for any questions on the tender.
