HUNTER YOUTH MENTOR COLLABORATIVE

Hunter Youth Mentor Collaborative (HYMC) is a not-for-profit umbrella organisation for groups in the Hunter region providing youth mentoring programs. Membership comprises groups involved in youth mentoring and development as well as individuals.

HYMC works with members to provide support to young people; share best practices in mentoring and youth development; undertake collaborative projects; seek out mutually beneficial partnerships and learn together. HYMC's goal is to develop, support and promote the growth of mentoring and youth development programs by providing a strong collaborative network involving community, business and government.

Currently HYMC has 45 individual members and 65 member organisations and it openly encourages individuals and organisations working with youth in the Hunter region to become members of its organisations. There is no cost attached to membership and this can be done on line at HYMC.com.au

HYMC's major activities are:
HYMC Educational Scholarships are awarded to young students over 15 years of age who are committed to achieving educational goals, but who, because of financial or other hardship, are at significant risk of being unable to do so.

HYMC Seminar Series and Forum provide opportunities for members to learn about contemporary issues relevant to working with youth from experts presenting current research and state-of-the-art thinking.

HYMC Mentor Training Program provides mentors working with HYMC member organizations the skills and tools necessary for working with youth.

HYMC Recognition Event annually recognises outstanding mentors in the community.
