Weet-Bix Kids Try-Athlon

Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids Try-Athlon is soon aproaching and HVC is looking for up to 200 volunteers to assist in its smooth running at Camp Shortland on Sunday, 10th February 2008. Volunteer duties will be to assist and encourage children aged 7 to 15 years participating in the Weet-Bix Kids TRY-athlon. The aim of the day is for the kids to have fun in a non-competitive environment where every participant receives a medal and a finisher's certificate.

Shift Times: 6 - 6.30am start for 5 hours.

Volunteer roles will include:

a)Get Ready and Numbering.

Asking the kids to 'get ready' to enter transition by having their helmets, shirts. Writing event numbers on the kids' upper arms with large nillos. On completion of numbering volunteers (marshals) will be relocated to the following sections: Swim, Cycle, Run and Recovery and may be asked to assist with bike check out from the transition area when their initial duties are complete.

b) Transition.

Assisting the children with racking of their bikes, guidance during the event and security with bike check out after event.

c) Swim

Crowd control and supervising kids into age groups for swim start. Helping to pack up small amount of signage then assist in transition and security check out of bikes.

d) Cycle

Guidance along cycle course on closed roads along Wharf and Station Road. Helping with the pack up of road closure equipment and signage then assist in Transition and security check out of bikes.

e) Recovery

Manning a tent to supply water to every finisher.
