VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS

The NSW Fire Brigade (NSWFB) has joined forces with the Hunter Volunteer Centre to help identify and source community minded volunteers to work as retained (on-call) firefighters at NSWFB fire stations in Hunter Valley.

Retained firefighters play a vital part in fire protection and ensuring the safety of hundreds of communities throughout rural and regional NSW.

NSWFB retained firefighters, who are on-call from work or home, are trained to respond to a wide range of emergencies including fires, car accidents, chemical spills and storm recovery operations. They also work closely with the local community to educate them about how to protect themselves, their families and homes from the threat of fire.

Retained firefighters are paid a monthly 'retainer' payment for being on call and receive an hourly rate for attending incidents, training sessions and other activities.

The NSWFB is looking for men and women who hold a current driver's licence, who are reasonably fit and healthy, work well in a team, have good problem solving skills and are strong communicators.

If you enjoy being part of a team, are physically fit, and want to give something back to your community, you could be just the person the NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) is looking for.
