Role Description
Vibrant volunteers to mentor young people aged 8-16 years at Youth Drop-In Centre at Windale and Pop Up Youth Spaces at Wallsend, Toronto, Rutherford and Mallabulla. Volunteers provide mentoring of young people in a supported youth space. Mentoring involves engaging with young people about their lives and demonstrating positive behaviours. Due to connections made during mentor work with young people, we ask volunteers dedicate 6-12 months to mentor volunteering.
Benefits
Volunteers will gain personal satisfaction by assisting young people to overcome educational and life related problems and will also gain experience working in a fun and challenging environment. This role is a great opportunity for anyone who is passionate about empowering young people to develop self esteem and are willing to share their skills eg. life experience, music, games, craft, art, sports. We also highly encourage students studying psychology, teaching, social work, or youth work to become volunteers.
Training
Volunteers are required to fill in an application form, attend an induction and attend training.
