Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) is funded by the Australian Government and supports volunteer visits to provide friendship and companionship to older people. There are 141 Auspices providing ACVVS services across Australia.

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme matches volunteers on a ‘one-on-one’ basis with a person living in an aged care facility (also known as nursing homes or hostels). The volunteer then visits regularly. Through the relationship that develops, loneliness and isolation are reduced in an older person’s life.

Who are Volunteer Visitors?

Volunteer Visitors come from all walks of life. They’re of all ages and genders.

Volunteer Visitors are people who have a liking for the older members of our community and an interest in what can be shared. They have a little spare time and are prepared to make a regular, ongoing commitment.
