Be a Witness to Living History – Volunteer Visitor (3536)

This role gives you the privileged position of getting to know people who have lived in a time before the internet and mobile phones. You will hear rich stories and feel nourished by giving back to others. In this role, you will be introduced to an older person who shares similar interests to you. You will visit them weekly or fortnightly at a time that suits you. This is a very flexible way to fit volunteering into your life.

You will have the opportunity to build a mutually satisfying friendship and contribute meaningfully to your community. Hear stories from people who have lived for nearly a century. Explore together their rich and long lives and learn a perspective that is not readily available to us in our busy modern lives. Let our elders know that they are loved and respected by giving the gift of your time and attention and know that your own life will carry a sense of purpose and meaning.

Volunteers are provided with initial training and ongoing support. You will also become a valuable member of our team of kind and amazing people. You will have the opportunity to participate in Volunteer Recognition events and free training.
